Learn how to enable auto-framing on NC Series cameras using a Zoom Rooms controller for enhanced video conferencing.

Updated at September 1st, 2026

Procedure

Use the following steps for enabling auto-framing on NC Series Cameras from a Zoom Rooms Controller:

Required Hardware and Components

  • Q-SYS PTZ NC-Series cameras.
  • Q-SYS Core Processor
  • Zoom Rooms on Windows or Mac OS and applicable Zoom Room Controller

To turn the auto-framing camera function on and off directly from a Zoom Rooms controller, first you must enable Zoom UCC Compatibility mode and expose the auto-framing control pin from the USB Video Bridge in your design.

Note

The Auto Framing function is available on all NC series cameras with the exception of the NC-Pro15x. The NC-Pro15x does not have an auto-framing pin.

  1. Select the Core in the inventory, then in the Core Properties pane enable UCC Compatibility mode by selecting Zoom in the drop-down menu.
  2. If Auto Framing is the only advanced camera mode that is desired, it is recommended to disable Speaker Focus and Presenter Focus in their respective drop-down menus.
  3. Look in the Control Pins section under the Properties pane, expand Status.
  4. Check the box for Auto Framing.
  5. Next, add the relevant NC series camera(s) to inventory, and drag the Status/Control block into the schematic.
  6. Click the camera block once
  7. Under Control Pins, expand the Auto Framing section.
  8. Check the box next to Enable.
  9. Assign a signal tag to the Status Auto Framing output pin on the USB Video Bridge, then assign the same signal tag to the Auto Framing Enable pin for each camera where the Auto Framing function is desired to be used.
  10. Once the design is complete and has been pushed to the core, and with the USB bridge connected to the Zoom Rooms computer, Auto Framing can be selected from the Zoom Rooms computer and will enable Auto Framing on each camera that the signal tag has been applied to.

Examples

Single NC Series Camera

Multiple NC Series Cameras switched via Mediacast Router

If using this method, you will need to utilize the Zoom Rooms Second Page Control app to allow camera switching from the Zoom Rooms Controller. To learn more about Q-SYS Zoom Rooms Second Page Control app, see How To | Enable Third-Party Controls in Zoom Rooms
