Information

USB-C cables are not all the same. The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) does not define the capabilities of a cable based solely on the USB-C connector. However, if a cable is labeled as a Thunderbolt cable, it must meet specific capabilities set by the USB-IF. Thunderbolt cables are assured to support at least 5Gbps, the minimum required for USB Video and Audio Bridging in a Q-SYS System.

Cables not branded as Thunderbolt are not required to fulfill the entire specification, only parts of it. Consequently, you may encounter USB-C cables that are limited to USB 2.0 speeds, charging only, or data syncing only.

For devices such as the NV-21-HU, there are minimum requirements required for proper operation using the USB-C port.

Similarly with Q-SYS TSC panels, this article lists cables that have been tested and verified for proper functionality.
