Yes, it is technically possible to update a Q-SYS core with a remote computer plugged to the system site. However, it is preferred to update a Q-SYS core and its peripherals locally, especially if updating to a new major release. 

The Q-SYS core usually has peripherals that will need to be updated as well, so you are not just updating one component, but an entire ecosystem. 

Depending on the versions, a power cycle of the system may be required required.
