Awareness | Issue with NC Camera Traffic Shaping when using NV-21-HU in design
Discover solutions to address issues with NC Camera Traffic shaping when incorporating NV-21-HU in your design.
Information
This article explains a current issue when using NC Camera Traffic Shaping if NV-21-HU is part of a design.
Normal Operation
When Traffic Shaping is enabled, the video frames are separated into "slices" and each slice is sent onto the network separately. This spreads the burst of network traffic across a larger window of time.
Large video frames, without traffic shaping, are sent to the network all at once and will cause a large burst of network traffic. Some switches and decoders are unable to handle that amount of data traffic and will therefore drop frames/data.
Current Issue
Normally, this setting will always be enabled as the cameras are more stable on the network. NV-21-HU currently has an issue making them incompatible with Traffic Shaping (multi-slicing). Until resolved in a future update, the Traffic Shaping setting will be set to OFF by default.
Current Suggested Uses
- There are no NV-21s in the design.
- Or, no NV-21s will receive a camera stream.
- Video packets are being lost on the network or being dropped by decoders.
- You are using a VisionSuite system without NV-21-HU.
- VisionSuite's RTSP decoder is more stable with Traffic Shaping enabled.
