How To | Change a volume knob or fader to an up/down button
Learn how to easily modify a volume knob or fader into an up/down button to customize your audio experience.
Procedure
The best way to do this – without adding extra components – is to make use of a copy (or multiple copies) of the original volume knob/fader. Then, either on a design schematic page or UCI page/layer:
- Convert the Presentation property to "Button".
- Covert the Push Action property to "String".
- Add the Button String property. For example, ++1, --1, +=3, -=3 will respectively increase the volume by 1dB, decrease the volume by 1dB, increase by 3 dB, or decrease by 3dB.
