Advice

If having an issue with device discovery in Q-SYS Designer, it may be that the software does not have proper permissions set in the PC firewall settings. Common best practice would be to always allow Q-SYS Designer for all network types in your firewall settings.

The example below shows how to accomplish this in Windows Defender Firewall. Other security software may have different steps based on manufacturer instructions.

  1. Using Windows search find app “Allow An App to through Windows Firewall”.
  2. Click Change settings button to perform edits to the Allowed apps list box.
  3. Locate Q-SYS Designer in Windows Defender Allowed apps and features list. Verify all check boxes have been checked.

    Note

Every installation of Q-SYS Designer has independent firewall permissions. It is necessary to allow every version installed to ensure proper discovery when using the selected version.

  1. If Q-SYS designer is not located in this menu, you can use the allow another app button.
    1. If changes to this list are not allowed, the current user may not have admin privileges. You will need to contact your IT administrator to make changes in this case.
