FAQ | Do wireless links work for Q-SYS networks?

Updated at May 9th, 2023

Answer

Communication with a Q-SYS Core processor for saving/loading designs and control via a UCI may acceptable in the majority of use cases. However, for Q-LAN related communication, including audio streams (Dante, AES67, Q-LAN) and video streams (Q-SYS NV series products), the networking requirements are far more stringent. In many cases, the latency and jitter involved on wireless links is unreliable for use in extending Q-LAN networks. Depending on the product, there may be limited transmission and also errors related to missing packets and PTPv1 and PTPv2 timing.

Refer to the Q-SYS Networking Requirements in Q-SYS Help for more information.
