Procedure

General Usage

This "how to..." explains the steps required to use a C1 to control a single Volume/mute control, use the C1 to indicate a meter level, do simple source select, setup general events and also set up snapshot selection.

Note

While the feature below are setup individually, the C1 can use any of these features in any combination. Simply all the instructions that apply.

Volume/Mute Control

  1. Use unIFY to configure the C1 making sure "QSC mode" is selected "Volume" option.
  2. Apply this setup to the C1
  3. In Q-SYS Designer, add "Gain" component to design and type a custom name for the block making sure it's unique (Note: Click on the actual component block and type a new name. Changing the property called "Name" will not work)
  4. Add C1 plug-in to design
  5. Run/Emulate the design and configure the connection setup for the C1 and activate "Locate" button and then "Sync"

Metering Control

Allows the LED indicator on the C1 to show metering level.

  1. In Q-SYS Designer, add "Level Meter" component to design and type a custom name for the block making sure it's unique (Note: Click on the actual component block and type a new name. Changing the property called "Name" will not work)
  2. Add C1 plug-in to design
  3. Run/Emulate the design and configure the connection setup for the C1 and activate "Locate" button and then "Sync"
  4. Use the "Meter Ctl" drop-down to select the meter control from step (1)
  5. Use the "Meter #" drop-down to select the desired meter channel to monitor

Source Select Control

Allows the C1 to control what audio source is selected.

  1. Use unIFY to configure the C1 making sure "QSC mode" is selected.
  2. Check the "Menu" mode and then add the required source select events to the menu structure.
  3. Apply the structure to the C1
  4. In Q-SYS Designer, add a "Router" component to design and type a custom name for the block making sure it's unique (Note: Click on the actual component block and type a new name. Changing the property called "Name" will not work)
  5. Add C1 plug-in to design
  6. Run/Emulate the design and configure the connection setup for the C1 and activate "Locate" button and then "Sync"
  7. In the C1 plug-in under "Source Select", configure the "Router Ctl" drop down and "Input #" fields for each selection.

General "Event" Control

Makes use of output control pins on the plug-in. These can be "wired" to other control pin inputs in the design. To setup a general event:

  1. Use unIFY to configure the C1 making sure "QSC mode" is selected.
  2. Check the "Menu" mode and then add the required general events to the menu structure.
  3. Apply the structure to the C1
  4. In Q-SYS Designer, adjust the "Control Pins" properties to indicate how many control pins will be needed.
  5. Enable the control pins needed so that they are shown just below the plug-in design.
  6. Run/Emulate the design and configure the connection setup for the C1 and activate "Locate" button and then "Sync"
  7. Switch to the "General" tab in the C1 plug-in
  8. For each event, define both which control pin will be affected and how that pin will be changed when the event occurs. An event can be set to turn on, turn off, toggle or pulse (which is like a trigger) the control pin.

Multi-room Control

This can be done using the room combiner and snapshots. See the "How to..." guide for doing simple or complex multi room/zone configuration.
