How To | MP Install / MP Manage > Smartphone Access Profile Setup for Mobile Remote Control

Gain the knowledge necessary to install and manage a smartphone access profile for remote control of your smartphone.

Procedure


The MP-M mixer can be controlled using the MP Manage application running on a mobile device (mobile phone or tablet).  In order for popper operation, the system administrator or system integrator must first setup the different user profiles using MP Install. Once the profiles have been setup, the system administrator or system integrator must then assign a profile to the mobile phone or tablet using the MP Manage software logging in as the Manager.  Below is a list of procedure to assist with the setup and management of the Smartphone Access Profile.

Setting up an Smartphone Access Profile in MP Install

The following steps are assuming MP Install is open on a PC computer or tablet and has an established network connection to an MP-M Mixer to set up a Smartphone Access Profile. The MP-M Administrator can only make these changes. 

 

  1. Navigate to Menu > Security
  2. Verify and/or Change Password for MP Manage.  The default password: Access 

    Note

    This password will be required in the MP Manage App to assign or remove Smartphone Access Profiles from a user’s IOS or Android mobile device.

     
  3. Navigate to Menu > Smartphone Access Profiles.
  4. Select User Profile from left column.
  5. Assign Zones and Access Control functions to the specific user profiles and click SAVE.
 
 

Assigning a Profile to a mobile device in MP Manage

The following steps are assuming that MP Manage was successfully downloaded from the Apple IOS App Store / Android Google Play App Store and installed on the mobile device.

 

  1. Make sure IOS / Android mobile device is on the same network as the MP-M.
  2. Launch MP Manage
  3. Navigate MP Manage > Password
  4. Enter the “Manager” password in to MP Manage.
  5. Navigate to Security Mobile Access
  6. Select the Mobile Device from the right column so it is illuminated.
  7. Select the desired Profile from the left column to assign to the mobile device. 

    Note

    Only one profile can be assigned to a mobile device at one time.

     
  8. Tap “Save Access”. 
  9. Close the MP Manage App.
 
 

Using a Smartphone Access Profile in MP Manage

  1. Make sure IOS / Android mobile device is on the same network as MP-M that is intended to be controlled.
  2. Launch MP Manage App.
  3. No Password is required to view / use the Profile that is assigned to that mobile device.
  4. Select a control function from the menu.

    Note

    Only the assigned Zones and Control functions will populate as selectable buttons.  Buttons will be grayed out if permission has not been granted for that control function.

    If ALL buttons except for "Password Manager Access" are grayed out, Control functions still need to be added to the User Profile assigned to that mobile device.  SEE SECTION A of this document.

    Password is only required for gaining access to the “Manager” profile on that device.

     
 
 

Changing an assigned Smartphone Access Profile In MP Manage

The following steps are to assist in changing the Smartphone Access Profile to a different Smartphone Access Profile.

 

  1. Make sure IOS / Android mobile device is on the same network as MP-M that is intended to be controlled.
  2. Launch MP Manage
  3. Connect to Mixer.  This can occur automatically if the device has connected to the mixer before.
  4. Navigate MP Manage > Password
  5. Enter MP Manage “Manager” Password
  6. Navigate to Security Mobile Access
  7. Select the Mobile Device from the right column.
  8. Available options to modify are as follows:
  9. Select the NEW / DIFFERENT Profile from the left column to be assigned to the mobile device OR tap “Remove Device”.  Only one profile can be assigned to a mobile device.
  10. Tap "Save Access"
  11. Close the MP Manage App
 
 

Removing a Mobile Device > MP Manage

The following steps are to assist in Removing the Smartphone Access Profile off of a user’s mobile device.

 

  1. Make sure IOS / Android mobile device is on the same network as MP-M that is intended to be controlled.
  2. Launch the MP Manage App
  3. Connect to Mixer.  This can occur automatically if the device has connected to the mixer before.
  4. Navigate MP Manage > Password
  5. Enter MP Manage Password
  6. Navigate Security Mobile Access
  7. Select the Mobile Device from the right column.
  8. Tap "Remove Device"
  9. Close MP Manage App
  10. Delete MP Manage App if desired.
 
 

Troubleshooting

·         MP Manage App states it is OFFLINE

o   Check to make sure the mobile device is on the same network as the MP Mixer.

o   The network is blocking Bonjour (a network discovery protocol) and preventing the mixer from being discovered.  Seek assistance from the site’s Network Administrator.

·         Password Button is the only button that is selectable when launching the MP Manage App:

o   Controls may not have been saved to the User Profile in MP Install

o   Mobile device is only setup for the “Manager” profile.  Enter the “Manager” password and change the Profile Assignment. (See “Changing assigned Profile”) 

·         A control button is grayed out and cannot adjust the control

o   The control was not assigned to the User Profile.  The system Administrator will need to make that change in MP Install.
